My partner and I often dine in a great Italian Restaurant called La Caverna (across from Luigi Malones in Temple Bar). The prices are brilliant ( around €40 for a meal for two plus a bottle of wine). The menu has an extensive range of pastas, pizzas and chicken/meat dishes. It caters for all tastes. The staff are friendly and on the ball and the atmosphere is very relaxed and cosy. I have always had a great meal there and would recommend it to anyone

"La Caverna is a hidden gem in temple bar over shadowed by some of the more famous restaurants in that vicinity. It never disappoints and is defo a place for couples to visit. Some of the dishes can be on the expensive side but in general you'll be hard pushed to beat it."

"Had a really nice meal here just last weekend (end of Feb.). Shared some garlic mushrooms, which were great. Had a vegetarian pizza with extra salami and my dinning partner had the fungi pizza. Both were very good. I have only had their pizzas here and have always been nice, fresh with a thin crisp base. Nice little place really that is pretty cheap."

" This is a romantic type of restaurant. The tables and seats are quite squashed, however, they probably added to the intimate feel of the place! The food was quite good and not very expensive. The waiter was very efficient and the location is very central! Definitely worth a visit!"

Temple Bar hosts lots of delicious Italians and one of the best kept secrets in Italian cuisine is La Caverna. This Dublin restaurant serves delicious pizzas and pastas and offers a very reasonable early bird menu.

I went here with some friends at the weekend. We were brought downstairs and immediately we fell in love with the place, from the cosy atmosphere to the goblets on the tables. Choosing something from the menu was nearly impossible I opted for chicken wings to start (which were delicious) and the amatriciana for my main course. The only criticism came from one person about the size of her main course - the garlic chicken, which in comparison to the other mains did seem quite small. I will definitely be going back and next time I'll bring my boyfriend along it struck me as a very romantic restaurant."

"We had dinner the other night in this, I could say, unique place. Very, very impressed."

I went out last night to La Caverna in Temple bar and had a lovely meal there. I saved myself €15.00. I have never been there before. Why I don't know, because I always end up going to Luigi Malone's right across the road. Anyway The meal was lovely and I have to say I would go back.

"Favourite table, upstairs at the window great for people watching. A nice romantic type of restaurant. Favourite dishes Bruschetta al Pomodoro, Duck and there ‘Famous' Cozze "

"Gorgeous food, really good value for money and the service is with a smile! Can't ask for much more really. "

"Had dinner here last night and was highly impressed. The quality of food and service (particularly for Temple Bar) was great! I had cheese stuffed garlic mushrooms for starters, which was gorgeous and fab duck on mash for main, which also comes with a serving of side salad (for free). My boyfriend had potato skins for starters and steak on mash (also with side salad) for main, which he gave 9/10 (and he's fussy about his steaks!). I was also given 10% off the total price of the bill because I had booked the table online! On top of all that, the manager was even on hand to help us into our coats and walk us to the door. Love this place!! :)"

Really enjoyed it! Food was yum, wine was really good & the atmosphere was fab!

Very good choice of menu, wasn't to busy when we dined but it was early (6pm). Great house wine and very good value for money. Not too impressed with the starters but mains were excellent. Would recommend.

I took my girlfriend here for a romantic meal on a Friday night and we were both very satisfied with the experience. The decor varies depending on where you are seated. Upstairs is fairly typical for an Italian restaurant, adequate bit far from inspiring. However, downstairs is a complete revelation, infused with charm and character - perfect for an intimate meal with that special someone. The service was excellent, with the waiters being attentive but not overbearing. As for the food itself, it was well above what I was expected. I had the fishcake for starters which was a wonderful combination of flavours and texture, the various spices adding to but not overpowering the dish. For mains I had the fillet steak and my girlfriend had the lamb cutlets. Both were cooked to perfection and incredibly tender and full of flavour. There is an admirable selection of Italian wines and our meal was accompanied by an excellent Chianti, which complemented the food to perfection. All in all this was a great experience.

This has to be one of the most romantic Italian restaurants we have ever eaten in. The cellar is a must. The Staff are so helpful; the restaurant is run by a husband and wife team who always have time to have a chat with you. The menu is full of tasty dishes and the prices are very good. The wine goblets that they serve the wine in are a lovely touch. The scampi is the freshest I have ever had. Get your self down to this restaurant you will not be disappointed that's a promise.

I suggested this place for a team night out in a new job. I was very nervous because if it went wrong it was my fault! Needn't have worried. Everyone loved the place. The food was delicious (from steak to pasta, brie, Caesar salad) and the wine chosen by my boss (el president) was one of the nicest my colleagues had tasted. We downstairs in the cave, which definitely adds to the atmosphere. That was my 2nd time there and I would definitely go back again and recommend to a friend. My only small criticism would be slow service at times... milk 5 mins after the coffees arrived but if you can get past that it's well worth a visit.

If you go here ask to be seated downstairs!!! It's fabulous - very romantic and atmospheric. Love the goblets that they serve wine in. If you are seated before 6.30 on a weekday there is a really good early bird menu. I would highly recommend the calamari for starters! The house rose wine is pretty good also - not many places have one!

Had a birthday dinner for my girlfrind here on Saturday night,25th of August. Had 16 people who really enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere. I specifically booked the cellar (basement) area which looked fantastic and the service was excellent. The manager, whom I'd made all the arrangements with prior to the party, served us all evening. Starters and mains arrived in excellent time and together which was a pleasant surprise. The selection and quality of the food was excellent and great value for money. The carafes of house wine were very nice. The prearranged birthday cake went down a treat and I can be sure many of the 16 guests will be returning again soon.

A little gem in the heart of Temple Bar! The food is lovely, with a great selection, and the Early Bird specials are very good value. Was with a big group recently and the service was brilliant - no complaints from anyone. Definitely worth a visit, especially if seated in the cellar.

I went here with 12 friends for my birthday on Saturday and had a great night! We booked a table in the basement which is lovely if a bit cramped because there was another large group downstairs. Everyone in my group loved the food, the starters were delicious and the main courses were generous, tasty and well presented. Worked out at about €50 per person and there was a large amount of wine, champagne and spirits on the bill so I thought it was very reasonable. The staff were friendly and very patient as we spent a good 3 hours in the restaurant! Would definitely recommend this restaurant for a tasty and reasonably priced meal.

Myself and the hubby were looking for somewhere to eat last night in town when a girl approached us and handed us a card for La Caverna offering a ten per cent discount. We had a look at the menu outside and thought why not? We were really glad we did, the food was really lovely. He had the seafood chowder for starters which was nicely presented with mussels and plenty of seafood, and the double burger, really tasty with lovely seasoning and spices. I had bruschetta and the fillet steak. It was the best fillet I'd had in a long time, lovely flavour and so tender. Accompanied by garlic potatoes, pepper sauce and salad, it was an all round great meal. We had a carafe of the house white which was really nice and that brought the bill to €62! Thats not counting the ten per cent discount, so I thought that was really good value for money. Service was good, very pleasant waiter, so I'll be back!

Recently went to La Caverna with my boyfriend for an anniversary dinner. Service was fantastic from the moment we walked in the door. Food was perfect - we both had the brie salad and steaks. Great location and excellent value. Definitely ask for a table downstairs in the cellar, perfect for a romantic night out with your partner or with a group of friends.

This place is class. I went here with my girlfriend last Saturday night. We got a table downstairs - the best place to eat in this restaraunt. The staff are friendly, the food tastes great and is great value, will go again soon.

Took my dad here for a birthday meal on Saturday night. We left completely satisfied. The food was gorgeous and the service was top notch - couldn't have asked for anything better. We were seated down in the cellar - beautiful and cosy - with fab wine glasses! Starters were bruschetta (with a gorgeous balsamic vinegar kick), potato skins and stuffed mushrooms. The mains were equally as pleasing: Pizza de la casa, Garlic chicken, fish of the day, which was lemon sole and the seafood symphony. Never saw plates being cleared so quickly! Chocolate brownie, creme brulee and an Irish coffee rounded off the meal. We are definitely going back soon!!

Had a gorgeous meal here last Friday night with my boyfriend. It was a lovely evening. The atmosphere downstairs was really intimate and the wine was flowing! Both had steaks. The starters could do with being a bit bigger though. Will definitely go back.

Really enjoyed this restaurant. Brought my girlfriend there and we really enjoyed the food. The selection of breads and stuffed mushrooms were delicious starters. The main course was equally as delicious. I would like to return again sometime and try the selection of wines.

Was here at the weekend - great food, great service and a great atmosphere! Going back this weekend!!

My girlfriend and myself ventured here for Valentine's Day. The restaurant was very well organised and relaxed. The staff were always on hand but not over-bearing! I loved the mussels. Fine I've had in a while! The steak was very pleasing. My girlfriend who trys to be a vegetarian couldnt resist and ordered the steak too from the peek she had from the neighbouring table! Nice place! Tip: Get a table down below in the lower section!

I popped in here to get away from the rain and the enticing early bird menu which runs all week from 4.30 - 6.30. I love my calamari so was delighted to see that on the menu and also my steak so was looking forward to my meal. As it was early enough, I was only the fourth person in the place so I was seated immediately and service was friendly and prompt. Food arrived quickly too, a good thing as I was starving. The calamari was perfectly cooked and spiced beautifully, the accompanying sweet chilli sauce set it off to a tee. My sirloin arrived and thankfully sauce on the side as standard because I forgot to mention it when ordering. This course wasn't as successful as my starter, the meat was indeed as requested perfectly rare, but there was quite a bit of fat. The fries on the other hand was lovely and very moreish. Great value I thought and left satisfied. Only thing with the bill they charge a euro to go to a charity I wasn't aware of this until after my bill arrived, so just an FYI. But I'd be back.

Lovely little restaurant in the heart of Temple Bar. Food I found to be lovely and the service was very good. I would definitely go back

This is a lovely restaurant with great food. The staff are attentive and friendly. Would not hesitate in returning here.

Went here for an early bird last friday, we took both a starter, garlic bread and the spring rolls, both nice as a main my partner took the Calzone and I had a pasta with gamba's..... which was good, but would try something different next time. At the end we ordered 1 dessert for the 2, a DELICIOUS brownie, with warm chocolate inside and a scoop of icecream on the side, for this dessert will come back certainly.

We ate here for the first time the week before christmas and surprising enough we got a table without reservation. We were offered drinks straight away which is a must, when we were ready to order the waitress was on hand straight away and was able to recommend 1 or 2 dishes for us, I had garlic bread with cheese to start & steak for main and wasn't left wanting for more, My girl had Garlic prawns to start and lasagne for main, again she was stuffed after her starter. This is an outstanding little restaurant I never knew about, and excellent staff to go with it.

Really nice atmosphere and surroundings in this restaurant. Attentive staff and good choice in menu. I went here with a friend just before Christmas. Early bird menu is really great value and provides a wide choice, you can choose any pasta dish or pizza as your main course. I had garlic bread which was dripping with garlic butter, delicious! Then Amatriciana for mains which was loaded with flavour but also managed to be light. Good value for money, recommended for lunch or early bird.

Just wanted to say thank you for everything last Friday, the food was delicious and the service was very good. Everybody enjoyed it. Thank you for all your help. Wishing you a happy Christmas and New Year. Regards, Rosalie

I'd just like to say thank you very much - lunch on Friday was great - enjoyed by everyone in the party, though some who have preferred vegetables rather than salad. Thanks again Mary

Went to La Caverna because I got a gift voucher for a present - my experiences with Italian restaurants in Dublin hasn't been anything special so I would never ordinarily choose to have dinner here. Although after eating here, I will definitely return! This place has redeemed Dublin's Italian Restaurants in my eyes. We got there in time for the Early Bird special - great value and a good selection. Looked at the rest of the menu to get a feel for it in case we decided to come back and there is so much to choose from - I already know what I'll be having next time :) The food was excellent! Lasagne bursting with flavour, so much so that I can't wait to go back and try some of the other traditional Italian dishes. The only drawback for me is that the wine list isn't as extensive as I'd like - we struggled to find a nice red, anlthough I must point out that this is because we don't like Italian wines, and so we went with an Australian which was nice enough. I've only given a 3 star for atmosphere because we had to listen to Celine Dion screaming in our ears for the first 20 mins, but once that finished and it got darker outside & the candlelight kicked in, the place redeemed itself in terms of ambiance - and the food goes a long way to making you forget about Celine! All in all a very nice dining experience - and with a price tag of €60 for 5 courses and a bottle of wine you can't go wrong!

Stumbelled accross La Caverna in Temple Bar with my friend. The decor is that of your typical Irish Italian. The standard of food is not. I had one of the best pizzas I ever had. It was absolutely huge!!! Easily enough for both of us but it was surprisingly light. My friend had carbonara which was also lovely. We washed it down with a lovely extremely reasonable pinot grigio

We went here around Valentines. The only reason we picked it is because we had a menupages.ie voucher towards it. But let me say this, we would've easily paid full price, heck we would've paid double menu price and we still would've had a great meal! I think the atmosphere, the staff, and the management and of course the food are all top class. We ate all our plates to the extent they hardly needed to put them through the dish washer! And I guess the best thing I can say as a recommendation is we are heading back to Dublin next week and La Caverna is one definite stop again, even at full price. Great food, great everything, plus we got a few free lighters and pens. 5 star all the way.

Ate here a few weeks ago. Was really surprised by the quality of the food. The starters were quite large as were the main courses - so much so that we had no room for dessert! I had the mussels with spaghetti for main course and I can highly recommend it. Price was reasonable also. So I will definitely be back.

We went here for an early bird and were not disappointed. The menu has everything on it: steak, chicken, fish, pasta and a great variety of pizza. As for portions, I have ate in restaurants from their normal menu and didn't get as much as I got here. The ceaser salad to start was nearly a meal in itself, then I had pasta with chicken and sun dried tomatoes. It was lovely, the only problem was I couldn't finish it all. Two starters, two mains, dessert and a bottle of wine for only €60 - can't beat it.

My boyfriend and I ate here last night and really enjoyed it. Thanks to the tip in one of the reviews below, we requested a table downstairs. The waiter was very friendly and prompt. Thumbs up for our starters - calamari and bruschetta - the latter slightly drowned in balsamic but luckily that suited me fine. I really enjoyed the very generous portion of pasta for main course and my boyfriend's steak, although more well done than medium, was also good. Desserts went down a treat so overall this is a great spot. I would not consider the price range above to be a true reflection given what the bill for 2 people came to but thanks to menupages we had a voucher which took a nice chunk of the total! Although, our order did include the more expensive starter and main course and the wine we chose was a bit pricey so what were we to expect when the bill came.

Gorgeous. We ate here yesterday and it couldn't be faulted. The was a huge selection on the menu and everything we got was beautiful. The starters or calamari and garlic prawns were a good size portion and very tasty, the pasta and pizza cooked beautifully and the desserts the perfect ending. Definitely worth a visit.

I have dined here several times in the last few weeks, I have never had any problem getting a table without a booking. The staff are wonderful and the food is divine. I've never eaten the same thing twice. It is great value for money. The staff don't rush you out the door after you are finished either. I would highly recommend this restaurant for an evening meal.

Had a meal here last night really enjoyed it. Can't wait to get back

Dear Dan, Please accept my grateful appreciation for the very kind attention and service which you and your staff extended to the Garda Ladies Choir last night. Everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable evening, raved about the food and how courteous and helpful your waiter and waitress were. I was very impressed with La Caverna, and no doubt, many of our choir members will be paying your Restaurant a visit again. I wish you continued success because you truly deserve it. It was refreshing to experience such good service and politeness, you are onto a winner there!!! Kindest regards Dan and again, my sincerest thanks

went there a couple of month ago, i really liked the atmosphere of the former wine cellar, its quite cosy but also really good for groups, the food was gorgeous and the service was excellent, all in all its well worth a visit

We had our office Christmas party at Lacaverna and I must admit the food, service and price were excellent with some of the wines on the list I could not believe I was drinking them in Ireland and at brilliant prices as well.

Dear Dan and Simona. I wish to express my sincere thanks to you both for the wonderful meal and hospitality, you gave us last night as guest in your lovely restaurant. A most enjoyable evening, the quality and freshness of the food, the very pleasing presentation, the wonderful atmosphere and buzz in the restaurant, with great service and friendly staff made our visit most enjoyable. Wishing you every success.

To all the La Caverna Staff, who helped in my 25th Birthday party. A special thanks to Simone, who helped in arranging our seating and was so hospitable. The service was amazing, all the staff was extremely polite and kind, and the personalised balloons on the table for the occasion was a most kind and thoughtful surprise. we all enjoyed ourselves immensely!!! I have since brought my mother to the restaurant and the service was again 100%. Thank you to all. Kindest Regards.

To Simona and Staff, Thank you very much for a wonderful 21st Birsthday

Another nice evening in La Caverna. The place looks really nice now. Food good, and staff, as always warm & welcoming.

See you next time.

Hi All,

I would like to compliment the Chef’s there at La Caverna for consistent delivery of tasty and well presented dishes.

I have visited many times over the years and have ordered many different meals and I have loved all that I have tried in La Caverna so far.

In addition, the value is brilliant and I have promoted the early bird to all of my family, friends and colleagues.

Also, to all of the wait staff - are all amazing.

Thank you for being present in Dublin where good food, setting and company can be hard to find.

Very nice spot, hostess( polish girl)was lovely, very reasonable early bird prices for such good quality food.
Nice, quiet spot, will definitely be back
Excellent atmosphere, really impressed by the food. Keep doing what you are doing.

Lovely food, the Duck was exquisite and the berries really complimented the Duck.

We have been in Dublinfor a few days and this is the best restaurant here.

Thank you and we will tell our friends.

Lovely food, great value and friendly saff. Will be back:)

My wife and I were wandering around the Temple Bar district in Dublin and came upon La Caverna. The menu looked good so we went in and while crowded, they found us a table. I ordered a venison plate and my wife, lasange. We also ordered a Valpolicella wine from a good sized wine list.

The venison was incredible. I ordered it medium rare and that is how it ws done. It was also really tender which I was concerned about. It came with a mushroom, olive, onion, etc sauce that added to the meat and the mashed potatoes. There were also some potato wedges that far exceeded my capacity. My wife's lasanga had lots of meat and, according to her, a great tomato sauce.

The servers were very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable.

We are only in Dublin one more night but we will likely be back tomorrow.
